Funded by the Strategic Research Theme of China-West Studies (arts.hku.hk/research/china-west-strategic-research-theme) and organized by the Faculty of Arts and the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences, this lecture series seeks to expand the growing interest in Hong Kong about how scholars all around the world pursue in-depth and meaningful research about China. We feature speakers who have influenced academic and popular conceptions about the Chinese past and present in both Greater China and in North America, Europe, Australia and other regions of the world. To showcase “intellectual exchange in action,” each event in the series will consist of a moderated dialogue between two leading scholars from different geographical areas about a broad topic, followed by a general discussion session.
